After arriving at the Holiday Inn and correcting our rooms, Convention was AMAZING! Here's a review of the whole ordeal:

Thursday:

We arrived at the MPEC center in Wichita Falls, Texas. Signed in, grabbed our goodies bags, went to the hotel, and found out they had messed up our rooms. We got back to the MPEC center just in time to see the end of the initial icebreaker, which consisted of a dance contest and some toher things. Steven Spriggs proceeded to get as many signatures from as many Lt. Governor's as possible. Steven Spriggs and Anish Tilak served as Seargents-At-Arms, the night guard people who bust the kids who are out past curfew. We held our first official meeting of the new year in room 532, and we can all agree that we are going to be one of the best clubs next year. We had a special officers meeting with Brooke Sheppard. Last minute contests were workd on until 2:30 a.m.. MIDNIGHT CURFEW!

    Friday:

All the Key Clubber had breakfast in the sponsor's room this morning. Then we drove over to the MPEC center, a route which took us a couple times to master. There were many forums, some of which helped with building members, other which helped with icebreakers, money managing, committee formation, etc. You get the idea. They were informative. Brooke Sheppard, Bobby Espinal, and Steven Spriggs had their impromptu essay writing competition. Quiz Bowl tryouts were held at noon. The questions weren't all that horrible.m The results were that the entire Oklahoma team was made of Lawton kids: Scott Sheppard, Karun Tilak, and Victoria Felder from Eisenhower and Steven Dragosolovich (spelling?) and Abbee [insert last name here]. Lunch was at Mazzio's Pizza afterwards. GOOD STUFF. Then back to the hotel for formal attire.S Somehwere in between, Steven and Allison managed to snap a photo with the International Key Club President Shivani Opening session: It was really cool. The stage was decorated as Bourbon Street, because if you didn't know, the theme was Mardi Gras. They were many guest speakers and some other cool presentations. They announced that  EISENHOWER HIGH SCHOOL got first in the mask competition, te mask Allison, Steven, Emma, and myself had worked on. Oh dang, we were happy! They showed a video about "making purple" or boy/girl relations at convention. PURPLE IS PERVERSE was the campaign slogan. Then there were caucuses where the people running for District offices gave short speeches. Let me just say that Joe Schibi had some tough competition for District Governor. Franchesca Routon ran off the floor for Editor. e had dinner at Johnny Carino's. Most of us were full by the time our main cousre came so...yeah. We went back to the hotel and hung out in various people's rooms until curfew and planned out our Borat Dance for the Governor's Ball.

    Saturday:

This morning, we had breakfast in the sponsor's room again. There were more forums, but only for three hours today. Then they had Afternoon Session where they proceeded to give out awards. Ike got most improved Club, a website patch, another Early bird patcjh for secretary, and Brooke Sheppard got third in the essay contest. Quiz Bowl competition was afterwards. We stomped Texas, 205 to 125. Went to the mall and bought sunglasses. Back to the MPEC center. Another session took place. Dinner, oratories, talent show, it was all great. We were named number 22 in the top 25 clubs, which isn't bad. Considering we were in the forties last year. Hopefully, we will have a more successful next year. Jenks was ranked number 1. Go Oklahoma! MacArthur was number 4.  Lawton High even got an award Let's just say it was an awesome convention for Oklahoma. The Governor's Ball was afterwards. Lots of bumping and grinding took place. Lots of fun. Off to bed.

     Sunday:

Casual dress for the Closing Session and breakfast at the MPEC center. Long lines for food. Steven , Anish, and myself had to leave before we heard the announcements for new district officers. Sadly, both Joe and Chessie lost. But it's okay. Will Walker is equally as qualified as Joe for the position of Governor.

This year has been very successful and a lot has been achieved. Convention was a time for us to reflect on the year and to see where our club needs to make improvements. Convention provided bonding time for all of us and because of it, we became a closer group. Good luck to Eisenhower Key Club for next year, as well as the other Key Clubs in Lawton.
